In this DIY project, Dominique shows that you don't have to be super handy to close your open stairs yourself. She actually wanted to hire a carpenter, but that was also very expensive! By having the planks cut to size and delivered to your home, the difficult work has already been done by us. And all you have to do is attach the risers yourself. By using primed material (primed poplar plywood), she only has to paint the whole thing. Read below how Dominique worked.

We were looking for a carpenter who wanted to close the attic stairs for us, but the prices were between 700-1500 euro And I was searching on Google and found DIY projects on TOSIZE.cz and thought: I can do that too! And so I measured the stairs and ordered the planks. Also purchased the wolfcraft undercover jig and bought clamping pliers to secure the wolfcraft to the planks. The job took about 1 hour. I am happy with the result and the service of TOSIZE.cz.

How I made this project

I closed the attic stairs with plywood poplar primed planks of 12mm.
Step 1: Removed the carpet tiles from the stairs, sanded and primed.
Step 2: Everything measured and ordered per stair step, very easy to do at TOSIZE.cz
Step 3: Received and pre-drilled all the planks for the top with the wolfcraft undercover jig.
Step 4: The planks at the top are all attached to the stairs with 3 cm screws.
Step 5: Drill through the planks and the stairs with a small wood drill.
Step 6: Now screw the bottom of the planks together with 3 cm screws
Step 7: sealing and finishing (I still have to do it)
