Description
I made a playful bookcase in the attic with MDF strips 18mm for the cubes and birch plywood 27mm for the shelves. These planks are untreated and the cubes are painted white in the same RAL color as the wall.
DIY custom bookcase
For the bookcase I made use of the available space between the sloping chimney and the sloping roof. The underside is a frame of MDF on which the first plywood plate lies. Then it is an accumulation of cubes and planks. With the help of a drawing I made myself, I determined the correct dimensions for the planks and adjusted the height of the cube for this. I ordered the multiplex strips to size and the MDF board 18 mm as separate strips of 27.0 and 20.0 cm deep so that they lay back 5.0 cm in relation to the planks. I made the cubes by cutting the strips to size with a crosscut saw. Then screwed together (3.5x35mm) and painted. Before painting, build it up to see if everything fits properly.
The dimensions of the project
Bottom shelf width: 2.5m deep: 32.0cm. Top shelves depth: 25.0cm. Height total: 2.3m
