Description by Martijn

Shelf that can be placed on the back of a desk so that more space is effectively created. This means that two monitors and speakers fit easily on the desk, everything is at eye level and cables can be neatly concealed.

How I made this project

First ordered a shelf of 210x30 cm . Beech wood was chosen because the desk is also made of beech. Then the desk was sanded to remove the dark stain layer, and the new plank was lightly sanded. I paid particular attention to ensuring that the edges of all planks are bevelled in the same way. Both the desk and the shelf were then stained twice in the same color (oak look). Finally, five short furniture legs (approx. 15 cm) installed on the shelf. The webshop has supplied the residual wood. I made two more wall shelves from this for above the desk (not shown in the photo). Practical tips: * If you have no experience with staining, it is good to first practice on a piece of wood that you do not want to use; *Sander is very useful. I used this to bevel the wood, but a router would be even more useful for this. * I used 5 legs, but this beech wood is strong enough that 4 legs would probably have been sufficient.
